The field in fastpitch softball is smaller and the bases are shorter than on a baseball field. The fences are usually no longer than 275ft from home plate. The bases are 60ft apart from each other, and the pitcher mound is 43ft for women’s and 46ft for men’s from the plate. First base is quite different in fastpitch than baseball and slowpitch. In fastpitch first base has two bases attached to each other. The one the fielder is supposed to use is the white one. When the batter hits that ball they are suppose to step on the orange one so the two players don’t collide. The ball that is used for fastpitch is 12 inches in circumference which decreases the length the ball travels after being hit. The purpose of the game is the same as baseball and slowpitch; the team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.
